Posted on December 23, 2022

Bumps can appear on the tongue from time to time and can be caused by allergies, injuries, or even infections. Although the feeling of them may be a little strange, they are completely harmless. There are those who fear that these bumps may be cancerous, but this is very rare.

Possible causes of tongue bumps

As mentioned before, there are different possible causes for tongue bumps. Here are some things you should consider.

Tongue injuries

Injury to the tongue may cause your tongue to bulge, as this is a normal response to injury. If you accidentally bite your tongue, a bump or swelling may appear. If you burn your tongue when eating something hot, bumps may also appear.

Canker sores

This is the most common cause of bumps on your tongue. These sores can appear on the inside of your lips, but they can also appear on the tongue as well. You will find these sores look red, yellow, or even white and can be very painful. Canker sores can go away on their own, but some may need help with pain relief.

The pitfalls of lying

How to remove bumps on the tongue There are several remedies that can help remove bumps from your tongue such as:

Apple cider vinegar, or ACV, as it’s more commonly called, has numerous health benefits from reducing inflammation to treating bacterial infections. To use this ingredient for tongue bumps, you will need to dilute 1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar in 1/2 cup of cold water. Soak a cotton swab in the mixture and press it on the bumps for 10 minutes. This needs to be done three times.

Baking soda scrub

Baking soda is an alkaline ingredient that can help exfoliate or cleanse your mouth of any bacteria or pathogens. What’s great about baking soda is that it has anti-bacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties that can help treat the bumps on your tongue. Add a teaspoon of baking soda to a cup filled with lukewarm water. Mix it up, then sip the solution and swish it around your mouth for 5 minutes. I spit it out, I spit it out. You will need to repeat this solution 2 to 3 times daily to help speed up the recovery process.
