Which is better for losing weight? – Healthy Builders

Posted on December 23, 2022

It is common knowledge that dieting or working out alone will not get you the image of your wildest dreams. Time and time again, fitness experts remind us that we need to eat healthy and exercise regularly to shed pounds and maintain an ideal weight.

But are you wondering if eating right or exercising regularly contributes more to weight loss?

Well, this article will stop you from wondering more as it will tell you which one is best for slimming, so don’t stop reading now.

Do you have family and friends who are having a hard time dieting and exercising at the same time due to their very busy schedules? Then be sure to repost this article later so they also know which one between healthy eating and regular exercise they should focus more on to lose weight.

One is easier than the other

Which one do you feel takes more of your precious time and energy: staying away from a slice of chocolate cake or trying to burn off your calories in the gym for several hours?

The answer is obvious – it’s easier to avoid extra calories than to get rid of them later.

It’s really not easy to say no to some of your favorite foods that are associated with unnecessary weight gain, but at the end of the day, refraining from sabotaging your diet is much more hassle-free than walking into the gym and trying to do it. Burn those hundreds of unnecessary calories for a few hours.

Studies show that diet matters more

If truth be told, individuals who only changed their diet tended to lose weight much better than those who simply increased the amount of exercise they did.

There are actually many studies done in the past that agree.

For example, a report in the journal Systematic Reviews found that participants who modified their diet but stuck to a regular exercise regimen experienced better weight loss than participants who increased their exercise frequency but stuck to an unhealthy diet.

In addition, another scientific investigation that appeared in the journal referred to as PeerJ discovered that those who simply tried to increase their physical activity for at least 30 minutes per day without modifying their eating habits were more at risk of gaining extra pounds.

Use exercise as an excuse

Experts believe that exercise can increase the risk of weight gain because it is often used as a way to cheat when it comes to diet. For many people, going to the gym means they have the opportunity to eat whatever they want because cardio and weight training can make those extra calories go away.

Sadly, fitness experts maintain that it just doesn’t work that way.

Going to the gym is no excuse for an unhealthy diet. Aside from the fact that it won’t lead to weight loss because you’re simply replacing all the calories you burned in the gym, you’re actually increasing your risk of eating more than you should – exercise fatigue can leave you groggy especially if you’re not eating. Health is your priority.

Needless to say, failing to pair a regular exercise regimen with healthy eating can render your gym membership and all the hard work pretty much useless.

Both are important

If you want to achieve weight loss and keep the results intact, fitness experts strongly recommend changing your diet for the better and getting your usual dose of exercise at the same time.

Obviously, you should stick to healthy eating and keep your gym membership up – and get the most out of it!

Getting a slimmer figure for the rest of your life is only possible if you will watch your eating habits and also adhere to a physically active lifestyle.
