News: Best Medicine Rep Theater Company announces ambitious sixth season

Five Comedies Selected for Final Year’s Production at Lakeforest Mall

Best Medical Representative, Gaithersburg’s professional theater company is proud to announce the selected plays for its sixth season, the final year in its current space at Lake Forest Mall. The games are The trip by Crystal V. Rhodes, White Rapunzel by June Rachelson OSPA and Daniel Neide, America’s sexiest couple by Ken Levinand two pieces of Jean Morogiello: In the gutter and Beckett’s fault.

“It’s going to be a fun season,” says writer and art director John Morogiello. “The scripts display a wide range of comic topics and styles. Our audience will love them.

The kick off for season 6 is The trip by Crystal V. Rhodes. Four lifelong friends embark on a pair of hilarious road trips twenty years apart. Can they rebuild the bridge that connects them without drowning in the water below? The production runs September 9 – October 2, 2022. It’s a fun ensemble comedy directed by Yvonne Paretzky.

“We were supposed to present The trip last season,” observes director Paretzky, “but the Omicron variant had other plans. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to finally stage this wonderful piece.

The next production White Rapunzel, is something new for Best Medicine Rep: a family musical. Written by June Rachelson OSPA and Daniel Neide, the play throws three different fairy tales into a comedic blender to great effect. The production will take place November 26 – December 11, 2022 on a morning schedule.

Best Medicine Rep’s dedication to the work of the Emmy-winning writer Ken Levin returns in our next production, America’s sexiest couple. The play is about a pair of aging sitcom actors who come together to see if the spark they felt in their youth was real or just acting. America’s sexiest couple short January 6 – 22, 2023and will be led by Kathleen Bart.

Of February 24 – March 19, 2023Best Med will present the world premiere of John Morogiello In the gutterdirected by the audience favorite Stan Levin. The play is a fantastic parody of film noir, with money, murder and a nosy neighbor played by another audience favorite. Rebecca A. Herron.

The season ends with another piece of Jean Morogiello, Beckett’s fault. Located in the literary office of a regional theater, Becket’s faultIt’s a comedy about office politics, ambition and being forced to read bad scripts. He works April 28 – May 21, 2023.

“Beckett is something we’ve always wanted to produce,” Morogiello jokes, “It’s one of my plays that had some success in the US and UK. In fact, it was done by a local amateur theater a few years ago. . We thought enough time had passed. I mean, if theaters can produce Dream of a summer night every year they can bear Beckett every seven.
